A historical Altaya chess set reproducing the battle between Napoleon I and the King of Prussia Frederick William III. The pieces represent the various military corps and units of the period. The set was created with great attention to historical accuracy, with the smallest details of the different military uniforms and weaponry faithfully reproduced. Many of the weapons and equipment are independent of the pieces and can be detached from them.
This set could only be obtained through a subscription that entitled the subscriber to one piece per week with a membership.
The pieces were made in lead before being hand-painted. They are highly detailed and feature sophisticated finishes. The richness of the colors, uniforms, and equipment creates a strong visual impression when viewing the set, and it takes some time to appreciate all the details. Note that each piece is unique and different from the others.
The board is original, made of wood, and features a subtle and distinctive color scheme. On its borders, wood-grain motifs evoke a forest setting surrounding the battle about to unfold.
The board measures 49.5 cm.
The tallest piece measures 12.2 cm.
The bases are 3.3 cm wide.
